Description
Although the concept of drama dates back to very old times, it has started to be updated in recent years. If we look at Drama, which has hundreds of definitions in line with the studies done, in a general framework;
Drama provides communication and interaction between individuals. Drama is to enliven a word, a concept, an experience, an event or a game by developing it. Drama is to revive an event, play, life by making use of theatre activities and developing them.
In daily life, people dream and make designs for the future. It is a "Drama" that people can turn this design into actions.
Drama is the meaning and animation of a word, concept, behaviour, sentence, idea, experience or event by using theatre techniques and play-like processes. While drama can be used as a tool, as a technique in many educational activities, it is also practised and learned as a special subject on its own.
Drama is a process-centred form of improvisation in which participants are guided by a leader to imagine and reflect on their experiences, using their bodies and voices to respond to a stimulating material, based on children's games and similar activities.
In other words, Drama is the participants responding to stimulating material by using their body or voice.
Drama proceeds in a distinctive line, separating from the art of drama with improvised elements and transforming abstract situations into concrete events.
Drama in education and training has an important function in achieving permanent behaviour change. An education based on memorization prevents the child's mental development, research and learning to share. Drama, on the other hand, is an educational field in itself that develops and raises the child. It is also an effective method that improves creativity. With the various techniques applied in this method, students learn by experiencing how they should behave in which situation. They improve their problem solving and communication skills.
Drama releases the hidden energy and enables the person to define himself, to realize his feelings, to learn that he is hurt and that he can feel pleasure. In this way, it also trains the child's behaviour.
Drama is a way for the participants to get to know themselves, others and the world and to develop the imagination of each child, emerging from the natural and momentary events of the group, including the learning tool and using the art of theatre.
